Salue! and welcome to Retinenda, The Lutheran Latin website for those learning and using the ancient language of the Western Church. The word retinenda means "[Latin] should be retained," an idea recognized and practiced by the Lutheran confessions. This site offers texts and audio recordings in Latin of important Lutheran authors in order to encourage those seeking to make Latin part of their devotional life.
Speaking Latin
This is the hardest element of Latin proficiency to work on because you cannot do it on your own. Talking to yourself will only get you so far, and people might think that you're nuts. Internet groups do exist, but it's best to (a) work on writing Latin and (b) find a friend who lives nearby or whom you can call to being chatting in Latin. Anyone who lives in the Lincoln, NE area is welcome to get in touch with me.
Do also include Latin as part of your prayer life. God, after all, understands Latin quite well, even yours.
